The illuminated vests have been trialled by Emergency stand by crews including Supervisors, who are called out during the night to road traffic collisions, defective portable traffic lights etc. Gritter drivers have also trialled the above garment.
There has been a positive feed back from Supervisors and operatives who have trialled the garment and, other operative’s are asking when do they receive theirs.
The main feed back from the emergency call out crews are that when deploying a road closure during the hours of darkness motorists do slow down when passing, and the illuminated strips / letters are just as effective under street lighting.
During the processes of gritting, drivers need to stop and exit the cab of their vehicle to check their load ,or walk around to the rear of the vehicle where a blockage may have occurred. The feed back again from the drivers are that once motorists see the illuminated garment, vehicles passing slow down immensely.
